Scar Camouflage in Fresno

Short answer: scar camouflage is a paramedical tattoo that helps healed scars blend into the skin around them, using skin-matched pigment or an inkless technique. It works best on flat, lighter scars that are at least a year old.

What scar camouflage can fix

  • Surgical scars: tummy tuck, C-section, breast surgery, facelift and other incision lines
  • Injury scars: healed cuts and scrapes that left a lighter line or patch
  • Healed burn scars that are flat and no longer changing
  • Acne scarring that is flat and lighter than the skin around it
  • Around the breast after reconstruction, often alongside 3D areola tattooing

What it can't fix

  • Raised keloid or hypertrophic scars
  • Scars that are still red, purple or healing (usually under a year old)
  • Scars that are darker than your skin
  • Deep pitted scars, where texture is the main issue

Not sure where your scar falls? That's what the consultation is for. Erica will tell you honestly whether camouflage is likely to help.

Two techniques

Pigment camouflage

Custom-blended, skin-toned pigment is placed into lighter scar tissue so it reads closer to the skin around it. Color matching is everything, and it's best for skin that doesn't tan much in summer.

Inkless revision

The tattoo technique without pigment, used to encourage the skin's own repair response. It's often chosen for texture, and for stretch marks. See inkless vs pigment.

What to expect

  1. Consultation: Erica looks at the scar, asks about its history and sets realistic expectations.
  2. Treatment: numbing is available, and sessions are usually shorter than cosmetic tattoos.
  3. Healing: the area may look pink or darker at first, then settles over a week or two. Keep it out of the sun.
  4. Follow-up sessions: results build gradually, so most scars need two or more sessions several weeks apart.

Follow the paramedical aftercare guide between sessions.

Questions

Will the scar disappear completely?

Camouflage makes a scar much less noticeable, but it doesn't erase it. Results depend on the scar's age, texture and color.

How long does scar camouflage last?

Pigment camouflage typically lasts a few years and can be refreshed. Changes from inkless revision are part of your own skin.

How much does scar camouflage cost?

It depends on the size and type of scar, so it's quoted at your consultation.
